Woah Nelly! It’s “Bama vs. LSU” week again in college football!Chris Vernon

The Tide is rolling and the Bengal Tigers are poised for a resurgence under interim Head Coach, Ed Orgeron.

Not only is LSU hoping to change their future with a win over Bama, so is “Coach O”.  Word on the bayou is that Coach could land a permanent position should he upset Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.  Orgeron is of Cajun descent and seems to fit in pretty well in Baton Rouge so far.

You know, Orgeron was a head coach once before in the SEC. He was the head man at the University of Mississippi Colonel Reb Black Bear Rebels or something.

That one didn’t turn out so well. But, it sure was entertaining – thanks in part to popular sports talk host, Chris Vernon, formerly of 92.9 ESPN in Memphis, Tennessee.

In honor of Coach O and this week’s rivalry game, I thought I would bring back this little ditty by “Verno”.

Sing along!

Don’t worry if you don’t know the words, there’s a snappy little chorus, just jump right on in there!

The Parlor MobBy FinebaumFan.

Many of you have been asking about this catchy tune used as bumper music on The Paul Finebaum Show.

It’s called “Can’t Keep No Good Boy Down” and it’s performed by The Parlor Mob on Roadrunner Records.

The Parlor Mob, originally named What About Frank?, is a rock band founded in New Jersey in 2004. The name comes from one of the notorious Hell’s Kitchen gangs active at the turn of the 20th century.

The band presently consists of singer Mark Melicia, guitarists David James Rosen and Paul Ritchie, and drummer Sam Bey.

Some of the band’s songs have been featured on television, on shows such as Entourage, Friday Night Lights, Person of Interest, and more, as well as in video games such as NASCAR 09, MLB 09: The Show, MLB 12: The Show and Sleeping Dogs.

ENJOY!

Lyrics

I been thinking for a while now,
How you had me still.
Playing with my mind, now darling,
Hope you got your fill.

‘Cause this train is leaving,
It’s rolling down the track.
Singing “Ain’t no turnin’ back.”

Now I’m a simple man, it’s true.
But Givin’ all I had to you.
Really don’t leave much for me,
Sorry Woman, I had to let you be.

‘Cause this train is leaving,
It’s rolling down the track.
Singing “Ain’t no turnin’ back.”
Singing “Ain’t no turnin’ back.”

One day you’re going to realize
I ain’t the one to blame.
I see how you critisize and curse my very name,
now baby that’s alright.

‘Cause I got better things to do than be your whipping boy,
So you can say what you want ’bout me
Hope it brings some type of joy back in your life.
‘Cause it don’t matter what I do,
There just ain’t no pleasing you.

Just say it how you mean it.
Just tell us how you feel.
Whoa, just say it how you mean it,
Just tell us…

Hope one day you’ll find a man that
Can keep you satisfied,
Have yourself a mess of kids
And a real comfortable life

This train is leaving,
It’s rolling downt the track,
Singing “Ain’t no turnin’ back”.

Still I really wish you well,
In Spite of all the lies you tell.
Can’t Keep No Good Boy Down,
Woman when you gonna look around?

This train is leaving,
It’s rolling down the track,
Singing “Ain’t no turnin’ back”.

This train is leaving,
It’s rolling down the track,
Singing “Ain’t no turnin’ back”.
Singing “Ain’t no turnin’ back”.

Singing “Ain’t no turnin’ back”.
Singing “Ain’t no turnin’ back”.

By FinebaumFan.

It is said that everyone has a doppelganger – someone who looks exactly the same as another person.

In the case of University of Alabama offensive coordinator, Lane Kiffin,  Daniel Tosh fits the bill.

Tosh is a comedian, actor, and writer who hosts the Comedy Central television show – “Tosh.0.

This week, Tosh took advantage of his striking resemblance to Kiffin to reveal his impression of a Lane Kiffin “call in” television show.

Along with his stunning “wife”, played by UFC ring girl Chrissy Blair, “Kiffin” fielded calls from fans of the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Auburn Tigers, the USC Trojans, and the Tennessee Volunteers.

Watch as “Lane” takes calls from these unhappy fans on “Kiffin’s Krimson Korner”.

“Phyllis From Mulga” took exception to ESPN’s Colin Cowherd’s comments regarding her beloved Alabama Crimson Tide and Head Coach, Nick Saban.

This morning on his show, “In The Herd”, Cowherd made this comment on air immediately after Paul Finebaum had been interviewed:

Phyllis called into the Finebaum show today unaware of Cowherd’s comments.

It didn’t take long before Phyllis began her second scathing of Cowherd on the Finebaum Show.

Her first call was a classic and quickly went viral on social media.

Today’s response to Cowherd was as intense as her first:

The Cover of Carson Tinker's Book.

The Cover of Carson Tinker’s Book.

Carson Tinker, is a familiar name to many people in the South.  It’s a name known today by thousands of fans supporting the National Football League’s Jacksonville Jaguars.  Most SEC football fans can recall the name from fall Saturdays past.

But, it’s University of Alabama football fans who know the name best.  And it’s not necessarily because he was a great player who displayed unique abilities on a football field in Tuscaloosa.

Carson Tinker is an inspiration to many people.  He was a “walk-on” long snapper for the Crimson Tide in 2008 who earned and was awarded a full scholarship prior to his senior season in 2012.

Alabama Coach Nick Saban praised Tinker for his contributions to the team:

“We’re very excited that we’re able to award a guy that has been such a positive influence in so many ways – personally, academically and athletically in our program.”

But his triumphs on the football field are just a part of the story – perhaps, just a small part.  His triumphs off the field may prove to influence and inspire more people than he ever thought possible.

Carson’s book, “A Season To Remember: Faith in the Midst of the Storm”, is scheduled to be released on April 16th.

If you are one of the few football fans who have never heard of Carson Tinker, you should hear his inspirational story.

Here’s a start.

This moving video, narrated by the voice of ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi, introduces Carson as he relates his experience during the devastating EF-4 tornado which struck Tuscaloosa, Alabama on April 27, 2011.  This video was broadcast prior to the Alabama vs. Penn State game on September 11, 2011.  You’ll hear commentary following by ESPN’s Todd Blackledge.

Carson was presented with a Patients of Courage Award by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. In the following video,  produced by the ASPS, Carson discusses his experience, his injuries, and his forthcoming book.

Tinker announced recently, via his Twitter account, that he is scheduled to be a guest on The Paul Finebaum Show on Monday, April 14th.

It’s been almost three years since that tragic day in 2011.  Its memories have scared the minds and hearts of many Alabamians.  Most certainly, this book and today’s interview will serve to comfort and inspire a new group across the country who will also recognize the name – Carson Tinker.

Here’s an excellent interview with Carson by Thom S. Rainer, president and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources.

You may read excerpts from the book at Amazon.com.

Racing champion, Jeff Gordon, teams up with Pepsi MAX to pull a prank on an unsuspecting automotive journalist, Travis Okluski.

Okluski, of the web site Jalopnik.com, had questioned the authenticity of the original Pepsi “Test Drive” commercial.

I’m sure Gordon proved his point.

In case you missed it, here’s the original.
