The Cover of Carson Tinker’s Book.

Carson Tinker, is a familiar name to many people in the South.  It’s a name known today by thousands of fans supporting the National Football League’s Jacksonville Jaguars.  Most SEC football fans can recall the name from fall Saturdays past.

But, it’s University of Alabama football fans who know the name best.  And it’s not necessarily because he was a great player who displayed unique abilities on a football field in Tuscaloosa.

Carson Tinker is an inspiration to many people.  He was a “walk-on” long snapper for the Crimson Tide in 2008 who earned and was awarded a full scholarship prior to his senior season in 2012.

Alabama Coach Nick Saban praised Tinker for his contributions to the team:

“We’re very excited that we’re able to award a guy that has been such a positive influence in so many ways – personally, academically and athletically in our program.”

But his triumphs on the football field are just a part of the story – perhaps, just a small part.  His triumphs off the field may prove to influence and inspire more people than he ever thought possible.

Carson’s book, “A Season To Remember: Faith in the Midst of the Storm”, is scheduled to be released on April 16th.

If you are one of the few football fans who have never heard of Carson Tinker, you should hear his inspirational story.

Here’s a start.

This moving video, narrated by the voice of ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi, introduces Carson as he relates his experience during the devastating EF-4 tornado which struck Tuscaloosa, Alabama on April 27, 2011.  This video was broadcast prior to the Alabama vs. Penn State game on September 11, 2011.  You’ll hear commentary following by ESPN’s Todd Blackledge.

Carson was presented with a Patients of Courage Award by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. In the following video,  produced by the ASPS, Carson discusses his experience, his injuries, and his forthcoming book.

Tinker announced recently, via his Twitter account, that he is scheduled to be a guest on The Paul Finebaum Show on Monday, April 14th.

It’s been almost three years since that tragic day in 2011.  Its memories have scared the minds and hearts of many Alabamians.  Most certainly, this book and today’s interview will serve to comfort and inspire a new group across the country who will also recognize the name – Carson Tinker.

Here’s an excellent interview with Carson by Thom S. Rainer, president and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources.

A Sneak Peek of Paul Finebaum’s Upcoming Book

Sports-talk radio personality Paul Finebaum has agreed to a major book deal with publisher HarperCollins to co-write a memoir about his popular call-in show, “The Paul Finebaum Radio Network,” and its impact on SEC football.

“Primarily, it’s about the culture of the show and how the culture of the show interacts with the SEC,” Finebaum told AL.com. “But it does quickly go through my career and how we got to this point.

“There will be commentary on why the SEC is better than everyone else,” Finebaum added. “It will certainly talk about the dominance of not only Alabama, but the conference. The (radio) show will be woven in and out of the book, featuring little vignettes on the callers.”

“No one speaks to SEC Nation — and Alabama fans in particular — with more passion, knowledge and humor than Paul Finebaum,” HarperCollins Senior Vice President and Executive Editor David Hirshey said in an email. “We expect this book to occupy the same spot  on the best-seller list that Alabama occupies in the BCS rankings — number one.”

The book is scheduled for an August 2014 release.
